New ‘Green’ Permitted Development comes into force

View all posts

A new set of regulations will come into force on 1st October this year to allow for more green micro-generation without the need for planning permission.

The order covers a range of green elements including wind power, solar pv, solar thermal, ground and air source heat pumps, biomass heating and even electric charging points for cars. This will clarify the position to homeowners of what is and is not deemed to be acceptable in this relatively new field of technology.

There are of course a number of criteria for each element to achieve before being considered permitted development, so please take care when planning your system. If you wish to discuss any of these green micro-generation techniques for your building project then get over to our contact page and let us know what you’re thinking.
